Earthquake in central Italy, the Red Cross continues its activities in support of the people affected
01.12.2016 After more than two weeks from the earthquake that, on august 24th, stroke central Italy, the Italian Red Cross continues its activities in support of the affected population. Coordinated by the Red Cross National Operations Room (SON), the Italian Red Cross is present in different camps: one at Amatrice, two at Accumuli - in the localities of Grisciano and Roccasalli – and one at Pretare a fraction of Aquarta Del Tronto.
The Italian Red Cross in currently carrying out several activities such as logistic support, distribution of non-food items, the monitoring and conduction of a census of the population, both medical and social-psychological assistance and child entertainment and support. Moreover, thanks to the two cookhouses of the Italian Red Cross, the preparation and distribution of food is also guaranteed.
In the camp based in Amatrice there are 49 active volunteers working in the cookhouse, preparing and distributing about eight hundred meals a day, destined both to the population and the volunteers located in this area.
